Diabetes Australia-NSW Board
The Diabetes Australia-NSW Board is the governing body of the not-for-profit organisation.
The Board of Directors, who are elected by the members of Diabetes Australia-NSW on a bi-annual basis and make up the Board, are responsible for:
The Board meets every eight weeks, together with the Chief Executive and the Executive Team.
The Board has three sub-committees which help it to exercise its role and responsibilities more effectively. They are the Finance, Audit & Risk Management Committee, Nominations & Remunerations Committee and Executive Committee.
The Board’s membership includes people with diabetes, healthcare experts and business stakeholders. Our Support Groups are represented, as are a range of ages and cultural backgrounds. Collectively, this gives the Board the integrity and perspective it needs to act in the best interests of the diabetes community.

Election of the Board
Elections occur every year with a group of the current Board of Directors retiring by rotation and offering themselves for re-election. Any casual Directors appointed during the year also stand for election.
If there are no nominations, these Directors are duly re-elected.
Only financial members of Diabetes Australia-NSW are entitled to vote.
Every financial member, other than those in the category of family member shall have one vote, which may be exercised in person or by proxy. Corporations and unincorporated associations exercise their votes through individuals appointed by the members or by proxy.
Family members exercise their votes, of which there are two for each membership, by two members of the family. Those members may appoint any individual as their proxy.
A Proxy form is made available for completion by those unable to attend the meeting and is included in our members’ magazine ‘Issues’ in the months that lead up to the election.
Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of Diabetes Australia-NSW is held every November at our Sydney office located at 26 Arundel Street, Glebe, NSW.
The Annual General Meeting includes the President’s Report on the not-for-profit organisation’s achievements made over the past year and the Annual Report for the year.
