Exclusively for our Members
Diabetes Australia-NSW has struck a landmark deal that allows our members to get access to a first-of-its-kind life insurance product designed especially for the diabetes market.
An agreement has been reached with insurance company TOWER Australia Limited and Genesys Wealth Advisors (GWA) to provide an insurance product called SafeGuard, which is available exclusively to Diabetes Australia-NSW members.
Although applying for SafeGuard does not guarantee that cover will be granted, all applications will be considered individually by underwriters knowledgeable in assessing diabetes for insurance purposes. This means you will be judged on a case-by-case basis in line with how well you manage your diabetes.
All Diabetes Australia-NSW members aged 18 to 70 may apply for SafeGuard and take advantage of the competitive rates on offer - whether they have diabetes or not. To apply for SafeGuard, members need to complete a custom made pre-assessment form that removes unnecessary processing procedures and allows for a speedier return of information.
'This form has sufficient information to enable the underwriters to give an indicative assessment almost immediately.' GWA advisor Bev Carlyon said.
'If the client then wishes to proceed, a formal application would be completed and submitted. To ensure that the best rate possible is arrived at, the underwriters will write to their doctor and obtain the latest details of the client’s treatment and level of control.'
After looking at the pre-assessment form, the underwriters may also decide that some applicants may be eligible to add Total and Permanent Disablement Insurance, Trauma Insurance or Income Protection Insurance. This information will be passed back to the client.
Diabetes Australia has forgone any collection of funds from the arrangement, preferring to pass lower premiums on to members. GWA has also reduced the remuneration it will receive, again in order to keep premiums as low as possible.
