The Macquarie Bank Foundation
Funded a total of $45,000 in the last four years. In 2004, it funded an educational cartoon video designed as:
The video provides a visual cartoon story for the child with diabetes, taking them on a journey inside their body from the moment food is eaten. The story demonstrates in a simple way, what happens to the food as it travels through the body, both when diabetes is present and when it is not.
The Foundation is currently sponsoring a second project with a generous total of $20,000. This will be a DVD to assist teachers and staff in schools with Emergency Treatment of Hypoglycaemic episodes in children with type 1 diabetes. The project will commence in 2007 and be completed in 2008.
The Macquarie Bank has also honoured the 10 years of service of one of their employees, Christine Durward, by donating $1,000 to Diabetes Australia-NSW.
The Mandarin Club
In 2007, donated $5,000 towards a rewrite and update of Diabetes... Your Questions Answered, a diabetes education resource. When complete, the booklets will be available in English and 10 other languages. We have secured funds from another source which now covers 50 per cent of our costs. A further $50,000 is being sought.
The J S Love Trust
Managed by Perpetual Philanthropic Foundations
In 2006, contributed $40,000 to fund a DVD/video for use by emergency services such as police, fire brigade and ambulance personnel.
The resource helps to educate about emergency treatment for people with diabetes.
The trust also contributed towards the cost of producing the 2002 editions of the Teenage Newsletter, 'You Said What?!', which provides up-to-date and relevant information for adolescents with type 1 diabetes, regarding diabetes management at school, going to parties and general teenage issues.
Teenagers are invited to participate in the content of the newsletter by sharing their experiences and the day-to-day living with diabetes.
Myer Grace Bros Community Fund
In July 2005, provided the funding to produce an education video in two parts aimed at:
The production of the education video will be a most useful tool in helping parents understand and manage behavioural issues in their children with type 1 diabetes. It will also provide health professionals with strategies for the appropriate management of behavioural issues of children with type 1 diabetes.
The video will be presented in an interesting, informative and entertaining way, aimed to throw light on family concerns with case studies, expert advice and parents’ experiences.
Count Wealth Accountants Charitable Foundation
In 2005, donated $10,000 to our health and education programs.
The Arthur Hatt Cook And The William Henry Hutchinson Charitable Trusts
Managed by Perpetual Philanthropic Foundations
